Private Visit - The Margiela Archives
Exciting opportunity to visit the Margiela archives collection before the auction sale!
The exceptional exhibition is organised in Paris by Maurice Auction in collaboration with Kerry Taylor Auctions, a selection of Martin Margiela's personal archives.
This historic sale will present over 200 lots tracing the full arc of his career, from his early creations for the Golden Canette in Antwerp in 1984 through to 2008, the year he left Maison Martin Margiela to pursue personal projects.
"After many years of moving my archives from place to place, and lending certain pieces for exhibitions, I felt it was time to part with some of my fashion-related memories. The collection spans the period from 1984 to 2008 and comprises photographs, drawings and objects. Some pieces were made later, during the pandemic. After much reflection, it was the thought of bringing joy to several collectors and institutions that finally led me to send them out into the world." — Martin Margiela
This sale marks an unprecedented moment in fashion history: it is the first time a living designer has collaborated directly with an auction house to offer his personal archives of garments and creative works.
