Book Club - Corps Noirs - IFM Library
The Book Club invites you to discover CORPS NOIRS, the essay by Christelle Bakima Poundza (IFM MS 2020) at the IFM Library on Monday 23 October at 6.30pm.
Audrey Bartis (IFM MS 1999), strategy planner and teacher (Université du Québec à Montréal) will lead the discussion with the author.
Together we will look back at the development of this particularly enlightening research, which began as part of the IFM's final year dissertation and culminated in its publication this autumn by Les Insolentes.
How can we rethink the place of black female bodies in fashion? How changes in the presence of black models in the media over the last few decades have impacted on the image and influence of black women in our societies.
You will be able to consult and purchase the book on site.
Our meeting will be followed by a drink-networking.
Christelle Bakima Poudnza is a 27-year-old writer, critic, podcaster and film-maker who lives and works in Paris. Her work aims to put racial, social and gender issues into perspective.
Christelle initiated "La Nakamurance", the first critical and cultural event dedicated to Aya Nakamura.
