A History of Fashion - Collecting and Exhibiting at Palais Galliera - 2
Dear alumni,
Two exhibitions are currently presented at the Palais Galliera:
"A History of Fashion at the Palais Galliera" and "Vogue Paris - 1920 2020"
With Corinne Magne, we will discover the first hanging of the exhibition "A History of Fashion at the Palais Galliera" in the new galleries on the ground floor.
We will then be able to discover by ourselves the exhibition "Vogue Paris - 1920 2020"
The meeting place on Thursday 21/ 17:45 will be t the main entrance of the Palais Galliera.
The exhibitions are open on Thursday night until 9pm.
From the collection of costumes collected in 1920 by the painter Maurice Leloir into a Society of the History of Costume, to the permanent installation of the museum collection at the Palais Galliera in 1977, we travel three centuries and more of donations and purchases that have enriched this fund by discovering masterpieces emblematic of each era.
Thus we are witnessing the evolution of the silhouette of women, and their status in the society of their time. Our analysis of this data has changed over the last hundred years.
Each department, for each century, from anonymous fashion to the fashion of the greatest designers, presents a subtle selection of beautiful specimens.
In addition, contributions from the departments of graphic arts and photography shed light on the genesis of clothing and how it is perceived.
